Studies show that the time we spend connecting in nature matters for our wellbeing. When we relate personally to nature with our senses and emotions, when we see and discover beauty and meaning, when we feel and express compassion, our sense that life is worthwhile increases nearly four times larger than the increase associated with higher socio-economic status. Research conducted by Professor Miles Richardson over 10 years also found that fostering a sense of connection with nature equalises wellbeing. Building a life-long connection to nature fosters well-being throughout the life-span, especially supporting 'a dip' in relational connection experienced by many teenagers. Nurturing our nature connection means that we spend time in nature and y observing, feeling, absorbing nature's beauty and developing compassion and meaning in our lives we become part of the solution in our lives and in those of others.
